On Friday, Feb. 14, former Madera High School standout Erika Perez’s current college team, the Creighton Bluejays, won 3-1 in their NCAA Division I softball game against the Morehead State Eagles.
The game took place at Bailey Park. This was their first matchup against the Eagles this season.
The Bluejays’ next game is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. at Bailey Park against Northern Kentucky Norse.
In January 2025, Mecklenburg County Magistrate Teresa Stokes signed the release of DeCarlos Brown Jr., a repeat arrestee later accused of fatally stabbing Iryna Zarutska on Charlotte’s light-rail.
Mecklenburg County received $3.3 million from a Chicago-based political foundation after leaders agreed to “reduce the use of incarceration” for repeat criminals like DeCarlos Brown, Jr.
