Week ending Aug. 22: 4 patents granted in Le Grand

Patent 3

There were four patents granted in Le Grand in the week ending Aug. 22, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is four more than the week before. Patents included a plum tree named `blackred x`.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending Aug. 22 belonged to Jon M. Quisenberry who filed in Jan. 4, 2021.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
