Census Bureau: 8.3% of people in Merced County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 279,150 citizens living in Merced County in 2021, 91.7% said they were only one race, while 8.3% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Merced County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 46.2% or 128,897 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Merced County is 2.4% lower than the state average, which stands at 10.7%.
