City of Merced recently issued the following announcement.
Although we were not able to have a normal ceremony as we would have liked, with a large gathering of the community to congratulate these great firefighters. We made the most of the state regulations and guidelines. A simple recognition for each member in the open air of an apparatus bay with the rear doors open. Only a few family members of those being recognized and adequate spacing to keep everyone safe. We are very proud to be able to recognize-
-Jeff Tomerlin the 2020 firefighter of the year
-Shawn Luce promoted to Battalion Chief
-Richard Ramirez promoted to Captain
-Jeremy Hamm Promoted to Engineer
-And the newest member of the Merced City Fire Department, Firefighter Sean Jones
