Congressman John Duarte (CA-13) announced that Christian Diaz of Modesto won the 2023 Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for California's 13th District.

Christian Diaz, an 11th-grade student at Ceres High School, developed SafeNet CyberSecurity, an app designed to enhance internet safety. The app provides password creation, secure storage, instant protective alerts, and educational resources about potential and current cyber threats.

The increasing risks of data breaches and cyber-attacks inspired Diaz to create SafeNet CyberSecurity. The app aims to empower users with a user-friendly tool to manage their digital security.

"I congratulate Christian for winning this year's Congressional App Challenge and applaud his outstanding achievement," said Congressman John Duarte. "His app, SafeNet CyberSecurity, demonstrates exceptional innovation and addresses a critical need for internet safety. Christian's dedication and technical expertise are commendable. I look forward to seeing his continued contributions to our Valley community."

The House of Representatives established the CAC to inspire students to explore coding and technology. This year, the competition saw a record number of participants, with 11,334 students competing and 3,645 fully functioning apps submitted.
