CITY OF ATWATER: Home for the Holidays

Georgetownholidays

City of Atwater issued the following announcement on Dec 1.

The Atwater Chamber of Commerce and the City of Atwater have planned an event in downtown Atwater that will feature community minded folks who want to share their Community Pride and Holiday Spirit.

"Home for the Holidays" is the theme that will be shared in staged booth displays in downtown Atwater.  Broadway Avenue will resemble a Candy Cane Lane-- families will be able to drive down Broadway Ave and enjoy viewing the themed staged booth displays, while practicing appropriate social distancing.

Broadway Ave (from 5th St to 1st St) will be closed to regular traffic.  Booth sized space- 10 ft x 10 ft (or more), will be designated on both sides of the street (proper distancing between booths).  Participants will set-up their holiday themed booth display between 5pm and 6:30pm.  Electricity will be available-- holiday lighting is encouraged.  At 7pm, spectator vehicles which have lined up westbound on Cedar Ave, will be instructed to turn left onto 5th St and make another left turn onto Broadway Ave-- the Viewing Route.  Driving in the center of the Viewing Route, the flow will be slow (and one way- eastbound), as families admire and enjoy the holiday staged booth displays that have assembled.

Spectators are encouraged to decorate their vehicles with holiday decor and signage.  Families can have fun with this-- seems to be something we have learned in 2020.  The Viewing Route will be open from 7pm to 8:30 pm.

We want to personally thank all who have contributed to helping to design and implement this event.  Past Parade participants as well as the downtown business community have communicated their interest and support for this event.  Much appreciated-- your actions help make Atwater the community we all call home, especially this holiday season.

Attached please find more information and an Entry Form.  Please confirm your participation by completing and returning an Entry Form.  Space is limited-- we anticipate filling up very quickly.

>  Please submit Entry Form by Wednesday, December 2nd.  Entries forms may be emailed, dropped off, or mailed.

>  Copy and share the Event Guidelines with your group.

>  Copy and share the Event Flyer -- use your social media avenues.

>  Please note and help to communicate that this event is NOT a Parade.  Spectators must be in vehicles.  NO pedestrians or walking on the viewing route will be permitted.

>  Proper health and safety practices need to be followed.  Face coverings, social distancing and minimal physical contact with other participants/spectators is required.  Please limit the number of individuals to no more than five (5) or less, per booth area-- to allow for proper social distancing.

No food preparation and/or distribution is permitted.  The sale of any type of food or goods is also prohibited.

Thank you for your interest and support.  We look forward to working with you.
