CITY OF CHOWCHILLA: A minutes with the Mayor

Local gov stock 01

City of Chowchilla recently issued the following announcement.

Hello Community Members,

Governor Newsome announced today that California will impose a limited stay-at-home order on some regions of the state if capacity in their ICU units falls below 15%. So far, none of the regions have triggered the stay-at-home order, though every part of the state is expected to at some point in December. The orders will go into effect when the intensive care unit capacity in a region drops below 15% and will stay in place for three weeks.

According to reports, Madera Community Hospital is treating 21 COVID patients. The ICU is full, and the ER handles the overflow.  It seems as though the spread of COVID-19 is rapidly increasing in our area, and we need to be diligent in doing what we can to take the stress off our emergency services.

The unfortunate turn in this pandemic has hampered many events that we have come to relish year after year. We must all take joy in the things we can appreciate, such as our new Christmas Decorations. Thank you all who donated towards that project; they are a delight to see! The city is also hosting a virtual event for Christmas.  Enter a photo of your child’s artwork and be entered in a chance to win a FaceTime call from Santa Claus. Visit our website for more details.

Lastly, American Legion and the VFW will have a Toy & Coat Drive on December 12th at Starbucks in Chowchilla. All COVID-19 precautions will be taken; you must wear a mask when dropping off your donations.

I hope you all continue to take the necessary precautions and stay safe.

Until Next Week,

Waseem Ahmed
